Dakota Johnson turned heads at the New York City premiere of her upcoming romantic comedy Materialists on Saturday. The 35-year-old actress was seen in a fun and flirty mood as she posed with co-star Chris Evans and a cardboard cutout of Pedro Pascal, who plays her love interest in the film.
The event came shortly after her ex, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, gave her a surprising public mention during a concert in Las Vegas. During the show, Martin told the crowd, “Be kind to yourself. Be kind to each other… Don’t forget to see Materialists! We love you!” His shout-out caught many fans off guard, especially since the couple reportedly split recently after nearly eight years together and a past engagement.

At the premiere, Dakota looked stunning in a sleek black silk dress with a halter neckline and a dramatic scarf detail that trailed behind her. She paired the look with black strappy heels, statement earrings, and delicate diamond rings. Her hair was styled straight, and she wore rosy, glowing makeup that highlighted her features.

Evans, who plays her ex-boyfriend in the film, stayed close by during the red carpet. He looked sharp in a navy suit with a white polo underneath, rounded off with slicked-back hair and vintage-style glasses. The pair shared several warm and cheerful moments while posing for cameras, including one where Dakota leaned in to “kiss” the lips of Pascal’s cardboard cutout.

As she left her hotel for the event, Dakota looked every bit the movie star in a backless gown and stylish cat-eye sunglasses. Though she kept a straight face at first, she lit up with a smile when she saw fans waiting to greet her.
In Materialists, Johnson plays Lucy, a successful matchmaker in New York City whose world turns upside down when she finds herself stuck in a complicated love triangle. Pedro Pascal stars as Harry Castillo, her seemingly perfect match, while Chris Evans portrays John, the ex who re-enters her life unexpectedly. The film, directed by Past Lives filmmaker Celine Song, also features Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, and Zoe Winters.
Materialists is set to hit theaters on June 13.
